Imperial Terran Armed Forces - Foreign Combat Divisions - 33rd Field Army.
The 33rd Army FCD is nicknamed 'the Damned' because over the course of its existence, it has managed to work itself into impossible situations time and again, choosing to stay behind in apocalyptic wastelands to help and protect survivors; and its tendency to perform heroic sacrifices to buy others time, the 33rd condemns itself to situations wherein the odds of survival are low. These practices, of course, lead to heavy casualties, but the men of the 33rd are willing to pay the price. They are, however, the only somewhat sympathetic Terran military unit as they don't start shooting immediately and will assist endangered civilians regardless of their nationality. Still, they are Terran, so this assistance more often than not involves lockdowns, quarantines and disciplinary torture and summary executions; and comes with a complete disregard for basic civil rights. Mangled, burnt bodies are often hanged from lamp posts as an example to those who would fight the 33rd. They are oddly fond of melodrama and their artillery round of choice is white phosphorus.
Due to an accident that involved an erroneously calibrated teleporter and a rogue wormhole, the 33rd now exists in tens of thousands of MT iterations besides the original FT one. The 33rd's in MT are still very tough but can be killed by physical harm. Becuase of this, the original 33rd's equipment and uniforms have somehow been replaced by hypermodern variants of their MT counterparts' gear. Since this made their attire easily distinguishable, they decided to stick with it.
Every member of the original 33rd killed in battle will vanish out of spacetime and reappear after the end of the current campaign; this probably has something to do with the previously mentioned incident. Chances are they get replaced by one of their fallen counterparts. Because of this, they are truly damned as the only way to die is if every last one of them is killed in every version of existence; and every action they perform causes the timeline they're in to split off, which then splits off again etc. making this a near imposible feat. Testing has indicated that all the fractal members of the 33rds share a single soul, meaning they are closer to true immortality than the Terran brain uploading technique does for the rest.
Due to their status as the best of the best, even surpassing Echo Company in team-based combat (but not individual combat which is Echo's MO) , the33rd doesn't recruit anywhere and admittance is invitation-only for a select few Blackwater ITA veterans. Blackwater, in turn, only recruits from Imperial Guard veterans. Which amounts to the 33rd recruiting only the best of the best in the entire military world!
The 33rd FCD was originally an all-male unit; the handful of Blackwater women are the 33rd's only females. The Blackwater troops with the 33rd don't share their curse so technically the Damned are the Imperial Military's only remaining male-exclusive chapter.
Their commanding officer is Ze'ev Ben-Aryeh.
All numbers exclude officers, and are piece numbers i.o. manpower in case of anything that isn't Infantry.
The numbers of troops and equipment are those of a Company. There are 4 Platoons in a Company, 6 Companies in a Battalion, and 3 Battalions in a Brigade.
A 'Troop Formation' is the 33rd's equivalent to a Division of 5 Brigades; it differs from a regular division in that a Troop Formation isn't a co-orperative unit, but a
loose collection of companies working together for the same commanding officers but who operate almost independently in the field. That being said, the standard operational unit of the 33rd is the Company.
